Privacy Policy for SwimFix

SwimFix (“the App”, “we”, “us”) is an iOS application that helps swimmers correct errors in .fit swim activity files exported from Garmin devices. This policy explains what data the App handles, where it goes, and what choices you have.

Plain-English summary: SwimFix runs entirely on your device. We don’t have a server. We don’t collect, sell, or share your personal information. We don’t use analytics or tracking. The only data that ever leaves your phone is data you explicitly choose to send to Garmin Connect. Subscription payments are processed by Apple — we never see your payment details.

1. Information We Process

1.1 Swim activity files

The App reads .fit, .zip, and .csv files you import. These files contain:

  • Timestamps, lap and length durations
  • Stroke counts and stroke types
  • Pool length and total distance
  • Device-recorded metadata (no GPS coordinates are used by the App)

All file processing happens locally on your device. Files are not uploaded to any SwimFix server (there is no SwimFix server).

1.2 Garmin Connect login (optional)

If you choose to use the in-app Garmin Connect import feature, the App displays Garmin Connect’s website inside a WKWebView (an in-app browser). You log in directly to Garmin’s site. Your Garmin username and password are never seen, stored, or transmitted by the App — they go directly from your keyboard to Garmin’s servers, the same way they would in Safari.

Garmin Connect stores session cookies in the WKWebView’s local data store on your device so you stay logged in between sessions. These cookies stay on your device. You can clear them at any time via Settings → Disconnect Garmin inside the App.

1.3 Corrected files uploaded back to Garmin (optional)

If you tap “Replace on Garmin Connect” after editing, the App uploads your corrected .fit file to Garmin and deletes the original activity from your Garmin account. This communication is direct between your device and Garmin’s servers. SwimFix is not a party to this transfer.

1.4 AI suggestions (not used in version 1.0)

A future version of SwimFix may offer optional AI-powered suggestions. The current shipping version (1.0) has this feature disabled — all suggestions in v1 come from a local, on-device heuristic engine.

If and when AI suggestions ship, the App will send only the numeric swim data needed to generate a suggestion (length durations, stroke counts, stroke types, pool length) to Anthropic’s Claude API. No personal identifiers, no filenames, and no raw .fit bytes are sent. This policy will be updated with the effective date at the top before any AI feature is enabled.

1.5 Subscription (SwimFix Pro)

SwimFix Pro is an auto-renewing subscription processed by Apple. When you subscribe or start a free trial:

  • Apple receives and processes your payment information. We do not see your credit card, Apple ID password, or billing address.
  • The App receives only the transaction result from StoreKit (success/failure, product identifier, trial status) so it can unlock Pro features on your device.
  • Subscription status is verified against StoreKit on your device. No external server is contacted.

You can cancel or manage your subscription anytime in Settings → [Your Apple ID] → Subscriptions.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

We want to be specific about what we don’t do:

  • No personal information (name, email, address, phone number)
  • No analytics, telemetry, or usage tracking
  • No advertising identifiers (IDFA)
  • No crash reporting or diagnostic data sent to us
  • No location data
  • No contacts, photos, or other device data
  • No third-party SDKs (no Facebook SDK, no Google Analytics, no Firebase, etc.)

3. Third-Party Services

The App can communicate with the following third parties only when you initiate the action:

ServiceWhen contactedWhat is sent
Garmin ConnectWhen you log in or import/upload an activityLogin credentials (entered by you in the WKWebView), session cookies, and the activity file you choose to upload
Apple App StoreWhen you start a trial, subscribe, or restore purchasesHandled by StoreKit; see Apple’s privacy policy

Your interactions with Garmin Connect are governed by Garmin’s Privacy Policy. Your interactions with Apple’s App Store are governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.

4. Data Retention

  • Imported swim files stay on your device until you delete the App or remove them via the iOS Files app.
  • Garmin Connect session cookies stay in the App’s WKWebView storage until you tap “Disconnect Garmin” in Settings or uninstall the App.
  • Subscription status is derived from StoreKit on-device and refreshed by Apple. There is no server-side record held by SwimFix.

Uninstalling SwimFix removes all of the above from your device.

5. Children’s Privacy

SwimFix is intended for general audiences. The App does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. If you believe a child has used the App, no action is required — the App collects no data to delete.

6. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)

Because SwimFix does not collect, process, or store your personal information on any server, there is no personal data for us to access, export, or delete on your behalf. All data the App handles stays on your device under your control.

For data Garmin holds about your activities, please contact Garmin directly via Garmin’s privacy contact.

7. Changes to This Policy

If we change how the App processes data — for example, when AI suggestions are enabled in a future version — this policy will be updated with the effective date at the top. Material changes will also be announced in the App’s release notes.
